Bolinda & Breedplan

The use of performance recording of cattle is often a controversial issue. At Bolinda we feel that that the use of performance recording (Breedplan) is an excellent and necessary evaluation tool. Although Breedplan only comprises a portion of our selection criteria of replacement cattle, we feel that its contribution to the Australian beef industry is important.

With reference to South Devons we feel that the use of performance recording needs to be greatly expanded. It should be noted that Breedplan growth figures only measure weight and that the true benefits of South Devons and Breedplan lies with the recording of traits such as eye muscle area and scrotal size.

At Bolinda we will not purchase stud cattle without their performance figures being investigated.
